Tahko is a year round holiday resort located practically in the middle of Finland in Nilsiä, approximately 65 kilometres north-east of Kuopio. The nearest airport is Rissala in Kuopio, about 50 km from Tahko. Railway station in Siilinjärvi, 40 km from Tahko. The centre of the town of Nilsiä is located 10 km from Tahko.

Airline companies Finnair and Blue1 have several flights daily to Rissala airport in Kuopio, the nearest airport to Tahko. When arriving by train, the nearest railway station is in Siilinjärvi (about 40 km) and Kuopio (about 65 km). There is an inexpensive shared taxi from airport and railway station to Tahko (see taxi –page).
